Let’s face it, while the OE drum system works well, it's fiddly to setup and adjust, with replacement parts costing a fortune when compared with standard disk brake part prices.
These solid adaptors allow the fitting of the mk4 golf calliper for a simple and easy to maintain system for the rear. A few extra parts are needed which are listed below, but they're all easily obtainable.
Please note, some adaptors that people make are simply laser cut from a piece of sheet metal which isn't really the ideal way of going about it. The forces generated need to be passed into a thicker structure which will give the adaptors rigidity, though these extra machining operation do do factor into the costs.
Includes all nuts, bolts and washers to atach the adaptors to the van and the calliper carriers to the adaptors.
Parts needed:
- Brake Discs 268x10 Height 45.7 from the VW Sharan 2.8 VR6 (7M8, 7M9, 7M6) (1995) VW NR: 7M0615601
- Pads: 1H0698451F
- Callipers: Girling 38: 191615423
- Calliper Carriers: 1H0615426 right & 1H0615425 left
- Handbrake lines from a Mk2 golf
- Brake fluid lines
Also, the old disk needs to be machined down to allow it to fit inside the dis. This is a one off operation and means when replacing disks in the future, you're not replacing the whole assembly. Please message if you can't find anyone to do it for you as I have access to a lathe.
